For swimming events, if a swimmer makes a technical mistake and an official identifies this mistake, this is know as a technical infraction. There are many technical infractions and the below information identifies what type of infraction it was. Typically, these are extremely difficult to dispute as the officials are next to the swimmer, whereas spectators are much further away and can't see the infraction.
